Meetings & Events

Critique Sessions:

  • The Guild usually holds 3 critique sessions per month. Sam Houston State University allows us to use their facility on the second and fourth Saturday of each month, and IHOP welcomes us on the first Wednesday of each month. However, this may be effected by the SHSU schedule and seasonal interruptions. If you're new to the group or returning after an absence, emailing to ensure that we're meeting wouldn't be a bad idea. • Please visit the "Critique Guidelines" tab before bringing your work for review.

Socials:

  • The Guild hosts periodic socials in and around The Woodlands.

  • Meet your fellow guildies in a relaxed, informal environment - typically a restaurant - to discuss general writing topics or life in general.

  • We're always open to suggestions for meeting locations so don't by shy!

Write-Ins:

  • Bring your laptops, notebooks, pens, and thinking caps to our monthly write-in session. Sam Houston State University allows us to use their facility on the third Saturday of each month

  • Spend 3 relatively distraction free hours dedicated to your "work in progress" while surrounded by a dedicated group of writers who are doing the same.

  • Other suggested items to bring are:

    • ear buds (if you listen to music while you write - watch your volume!)

    • ear plugs (if you need total silence to "get in the zone")

    • your favorite motivational t-shirt

    • and a beverage (non-alcoholic) of your choice (Please bring beverage in a sealed/covered container and dispose of any trash before you leave. We want to be good guests to our host!)
